This workshop unfolds in two interconnected phases, moving from guided improvisation into choreographic exploration and character creation.

We begin with DIVE, a continuous 50-minute guided improvisation session. Each body is invited to listen, sense, and open itself to new and unexpected pathways of movement. Through images and physical sensations, we explore different movement qualities in order to connect with the most intuitive and inventive part of ourselves — the place where physical performance meets imagination. The focus is on presence, availability, and the pleasure of discovering movement beyond habitual patterns.

In the second part, we enter a more laboratory-oriented choreographic process, working in duos, trios, and groups. Using the tools developed during the improvisation session, we begin to create characters through movement.

Each participant explores the emergence of a physical identity:
a specific movement quality, a particular walk, an inner rhythm, a “musicality,” emotional traits, and a life desire or objective. Through interaction with others and with space, these characters gain depth. Relationships, reactions, and dynamics become essential.

We place the characters in imagined contexts inspired by everyday life, with clearly defined objectives. As situations unfold, unexpected and sometimes absurd scenarios may emerge.

At the meeting point between contemporary dance and physical theatre, this practice investigates how movement, emotion, rhythm, and imagination can dialogue to create living, expressive characters. Physical states, constraints, and compositional tasks transform the body into a dramatic and poetic space of play.

The body — never separate from its inner world — becomes narrative material, a place of transformation. Sometimes moving alone, sometimes in dialogue, it continuously shifts, reacts, and evolves.
