HABEMUS NAUFRAGIUM
creation 2024

In their urgent need to adapt to an environment in constant transformation, two beings fight for survival, to the point of mutating into improbable forms and adopting chimeric identities.

Sometimes fused together, bodies tangled, sometimes with an urgent need to create distance, they seek to return to their own animality.
Audacious, senseless, just like the challenges confronting them, they try... take their chances... fail... Their evolutionary journey suggests that unity and mutual support are the key to their survival.

Tearing off layer upon layer of the thick shells that a frenetic society has grafted onto them, their bodies unite and metamorphose into a mysterious sea creature.

Calm returns, and with long, slender, hypnotic movements, the creature moves forward in perfect harmony with the noisy ocean that surrounds it... but for how long? Haven't we learned to beware of mirages?
Performed by the dancers Anna-Maria Besnier Bayon and Silvia Pezzarossi, Habemus Naufragium is a contemporary dance duet depicting the perpetual metamorphosis and vital mutual support required by two beings fighting for survival.
